Zahra Noorbakhsh is a Muslim, Iranian American comedian. She co-hosts the award-winning podcast #GoodMuslimBadMuslim, featured in Oprah Magazine and listed as a Top Ten Listen by iTunes and the AV Club. In 2015, an episode was recorded, by invitation, at the Obama White House.

Zahra is a Senior Fellow in Comedy for Social Change at The Pop Culture Collaborative. Her work has been featured on NPR’s Fresh Air, in the New York Times, and at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, where she was named one of the top 100 people shaping the future of culture in the nation. Her personal essay entitled, “Coming Out Bi When You’re Muslim and Married,” went to 80 million people when it was featured on PRI’s Global Nation, and again on the BBC’s Best of the Weekend.

As a follow up to her 2011 debut show, “All Atheists are Muslim: A Romantic Comedy,” directed by CNN’s W. Kamau Bell and dubbed a highlight of the International NYC Fringe Theatre Festival by the New Yorker and Time Out, she’s excited to premiere her new show—“On Behalf of All Muslims: A Comedy Special,” presented by Golden Thread Productions—at San Francisco’s historic Brava Theatre Main Stage this June.
